JULIA CRANNEY

Julia is the Artistic Director and co-founder of Pennyworth Productions.

 

An actor / writer originally from Merseyside. She is a graduate of the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Young Writers Programme, the University of Cambridge, SOHO Theatre's Writer's Lab and Drama Studio London.  She was recently nominated for the 'Most Promising New Playwright' Offie Award for the Pennyworth Double Bill at the Hope Theatre, Islington. 

 

Credits as a writer for stage include Empty Beds (Underbelly, Edinburgh Fringe & Arcola Theatre, London), Moments (Hen & Chickens, Camden Fringe), Deadlock (RWR at Theatre 503), The Other Line (ADC Theatre), Duff (Shortlisted for the RSC/Other Prize 2014) and the Cambridge Footlights Pantomime 2013; The Princess and the Pea.

As a writer for screen, Julia's first short LATE premiered at the BFI in 2018 as part of Underwire Film Festival and in LA as part of Holly Shorts. She is currently under commission to Raging Calm Productions and is also writing a TV pilot. She is represented by Sheil Land Associates.

As an actor her credits with Pennyworth include Catherine in Empty Beds and Ava in Moments.

 

Other acting credits include Blink (Liverpool Everyman), People You May Also Know (RWR at Theatre 503), Faustus (Cambridge Arts Theatre) and Monologue Slam National Final (Theatre Royal, Stratford East) with her self written piece 'Maybe'.
