JULIA CRANNEY

Julia is the Artistic Director and co-founder of Pennyworth Productions.

 

An actor / writer  from Merseyside. She is a graduate of the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Young Writers Programme, SOHO Theatre's Writer's Lab and Drama Studio London.  She was  nominated for the 'Most Promising New Playwright' Offie Award for the Pennyworth Double Bill at the Hope Theatre, Islington. 

 

Credits as a writer for stage include Empty Beds (Underbelly, Edinburgh Fringe, Arcola Theatre & Hope Theatre Islington), Moments (Hen & Chickens, Camden Fringe), Deadlock (RWR at Theatre 503), The Other Line (ADC Theatre), and Duff (Shortlisted for the RSC/Other Prize).

As a writer for screen, Julia has a number of television projects in development and has just completed work in the writers room of a new comedy drama for Sky Studios. She is represented by Sheil Land Associates and is a member of BFI Network x BAFTA Crew. 

​

As an actor her credits with Pennyworth include Catherine in Empty Beds and Ava in Moments.

 

Alongside her work as a writer and an actor, in 2020 Julia became a Mum to her very own plague baby Nina. The birth of Nina and the intense experience of new parenthood in total isolation lead to the development of new project WROUGHT alongside Kate and Debbie.
